Sunday In the City

This is a new segment I will be starting to encourage exploration, photo taking and celebration of the good things the Sabbath brings. I hope you enjoy. :)

This Sunday we went to Coit Tower.

This is Lillie Hitchcock (who I thought was "Little Hitchcock" which I think sounds was cooler and suits her better). She left money after her death towards beautifying San Francisco, thus they built Coit Tower in 1933. She used to smoke cigars and wear trousers long before it was acceptable for women to do so. She also was an avid gambler and used to disguise herself as a man to gamble in male-only establishments. And last but not least, she supposedly shaved her head so her wigs would fit better. What???

These are some of the murals that adorn the inside of the building. They are a result of the Public Works of Art Project created by New Deal legislation to create work for artists.

What a view and what beautiful young women. Oh, thats my friend Cheryl and I.

Lets Get Personal

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain;
Hebrews 6:19

Our hope is so secure. My soul is anchored by Gospel hope even in the depths of the deepest sea of woe and want for it is fastened on the sturdiest rock which resides in the innermost place of Heaven.
At the right hand of  God sits my Saviour, the one who sustains me. And He lets me in so I might gaze, even if vaguely now, on the one who cannot change or lie (vs.18), the one who has promised me blessedness (vs.14). God, I want to walk with you today and feel the steadiness of my anchor as the waves crash around. Take me, let me in, impart to me faith and hope so that whatever the day holds I might reflect in joy while still hoping for the day the seas will remain forever calm.

Wait

"Wait on the Lord."
Psalms 27:14

It may seem an easy thing to wait, but it is one of the postures which a Christian soldier learns not without years of teaching. Marching and quick-marching are much easier to God's warriors than standing still.

The Treacle Tart That Keeps On Giving

Today I bought a basil plant at the store because it was cheaper than the stuff in a box and plopped into the can I kept from the Treacle Tart I made back in May. Just keeping it green, literally.

Lets Get Personal: A Look Into My Journal

And I say, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest"... Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved."
Psalm 55:6&22

I think why I am currently at great tension with the imperfections and harsh realities of the world is because the rescue and help I am seeking in light of it is not in line with what God offers at the time; what is best. I want just what David wants in vs.6, to fly away; not to deal with or overcome but to forget about and escape. And yes, a time will come when we will be completely liberated at the appearing of our glorious Savior, but at the time evil is still about and Christ is still in the process of perfecting us. That is why He does not take us out of our struggles and hard circumstances but sustains us and keeps us from being moved. This is what's best for us, though maybe not most appealing, for in it we are strengthened and sanctified as we lean on the Lord for our sustenance. God, help me to redefine and experience rescue in a new way, your way.

DIY Fix For a Studio Apt

Don't get me wrong, I love my studio but I hate my closet. It is tiny, dark and insufficient. So I built this out of plumbing pipes from Home Depot.
